Adam Hale can maybe fucking admit that he wasn't right.
He wasn't right about his brothers, about his having no place with them anymore, about needing to keep his distance to keep them safe or whatever fucking reason he'd had all that time. He wasn't right about it.
He wasn't right about Alek never being able to forgive him, because it was Alek who first asked him to come with them. Hell, even Logan, he's managed that forgiveness with him after some encouragement from Alek. He remembers all of them when they were so much younger, when the were kids running around who he needed to take care of and protect and feed through everything going on.
No, they've grown up to be good people, to be good men, and their mother would be so goddamn proud of all of them, wouldn't she? It hurts his heart to think about. They survived the end of the world, and they're together as a family past all goddamn odds, and he doesn't know how this shit happens but he's-
He's grateful it does. He's grateful they're here instead. Maybe Lucien died some terrible death as the world ended (look, a guy can hope). Maybe they'll never run into him again. Seems more likely. All that time, it's been lost, and he plans on making up for it now.
"Hey, dinner's ready," Logan says from the doorway, and Adam turns around toward him with a little smile. Family dinners, it's a new Hale thing going on. He likes it. He likes... being a part of family dinners without being killed every time he pisses his father off. It's nice. This is... better than nice. It's right.
The world's not such a shit plate anymore. It's right.
